What makes a person to commit suicide?
Why does someone take her life?
I stumbled upon the news of Kate Spade’s death and it is quite sad. She was a world class bag designer. Of recent too I had learnt of the death of Psalm Isadora (in 2017), a celebrity intimacy coach.
Suicide. Sin? Satan? Self? Scary? Sad?
Are you at all feeling constantly down, low, depressed, washed out, hopeless…?
Please don’t keep quiet. Reach out and reach out again to another person if your immediate friends/family don’t understand you or take you serious.
Mental health issues are on the rise. Sometimes, it’s not just hanging themselves or taking poison/drug overdose, it is making choices that border on self-destructive behavior. Like not getting medical help. Going off prescription drugs.
The world needs you. YOU are here on purpose! Choose LIFE daily.
Still here. Theorizing. Soliloquizing.
Someone sent Kate Spade flowers the morning of the day she died?
Her phone rang and it was a long lost friend from days of yore?
Neighbour knocked to visit with a crying baby in tow!?
A church poster or banner or invite arrived in the mail saying ‘Hope for today’?
Told by someone ‘God is kind. God loves you!’?
…she received a random act of kindness ?
Disruptive, but the kind of stuff that can change the course of a life…
What if KS had gone out and sat in the park feeding crumbs to birds or fish?
What if she placed a call or sent a cheque to a worthy cause that day?
What if she’d called her sister for no reason other than to gist for hours on end?
She’d reached for a coach rather than a rope?
Cried like the Psalmist in Psalm 70v1?
… Or did a random act of kindness?
These little things are life-saving you know.
Rich. Poor. Fat. Thin. Everyone needs kindness.
Save a soul today, do a random act of kindness!
Put an uplifting note in a bottle and drop off on a beach or into a river.
Issue an unexpected cheque or bank deposit.
Give a smile, hug, a kiss, a warm handshake, a compliment. Apples of Gold in settings of silver!
A calm disposition in the face of what might be extreme provocation (from your secretary or spouse)!
A plate of food, gift wrapped or not.
Pay for coffee, food or gas for the guy after you on the queue.
Drop a thank you note for your PA or home assistant
‘Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly and most underrated agent of human change. When kindness is expressed, healthy relationships are created, community connections are nourished and people are inspired to pass on kindness’.- Nicky and Pippa Gumbel
One act of kindness can transform a person’s day, or even their life. As the saying goes, ‘Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.’ Kindness is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22).
‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk’ (Acts 3:6). Give what you have.
